Obituary of CHARLES EVANS BAXTER

BAXTER: Peacefully, at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, on Thursday, July 14, 2016, Charles Evans Baxter of Grand Bend, formerly of Toronto and Windsor, age 95. Beloved husband of Frances Maisie (Thrasher) Baxter. Loving father of Barbara Clark of Grand Bend, Joan Trusler and her husband John of Jupiter, Florida. Cherished grandfather of Robert Clark and Heather Wakeman, Evan Clark, Camille and Derek Sweitzer. Treasured great-grandfather of Isla Clark, Malin Clark, Zachary Sweitzer, Nicholas Sweitzer and Lucas Sweitzer. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Don and Mary Baxter of Hanover, Eleanor Baxter of Essex. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Robert Gordon and Irene Roscene (Evans) Baxter, sister Harriet Shaw and her husband Ozzie, and brothers Bob Baxter and Bill Baxter and his wife Shirley. At Charles’ request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. John’s by-the-Lake Anglican Church, Grand Bend, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Allan Falconer Officiant. Charles was a graduate of the University of Toronto, University College. He pursued a career in the printing business, which took him to Davis and Henderson in Toronto as Vice President of the Bank and Trust division. He was a Rector’s Warden at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Bloor Street, Toronto and an active member of St. John’s by-the-Lake Anglican Church, Grand Bend. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the St. John's by-the-Lake Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
