SCHILBE: Peacefully, at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, on Monday, October 17, 2016, Hubert Datars Schilbe of Zurich, age 88. Best Friend and husband of 66 years to Marjorie “Marge” Mae (Merner) Schilbe of Zurich. Loved father and father-in-law of Richard and Brenda Schilbe of Bayfield, Donna and Jim Hoffman of Dashwood, Wayne and Jody Schilbe of Calgary. Cherished grandpa of Jason Schilbe of Zurich and companion Sharla Moore, Krista and Avi Narula of London, Kelly and Ryan Gilmore, Jamie Hoffman and fiancée Leslie Lennox all of Grand Bend, Brenton and Amanda Hoffman of Toronto, Nicholas Schilbe and Jenna Regier of Hensall, Amy Schilbe of Vancouver. Treasured great-grandpa of MacIntyre Schilbe, Hallee Schilbe, Kai Narula, Kiran Narula, Taylor Gilmore, Kaitlyn Gilmore, Grayson Gilmore and Justin Hoffman. Dear brother-in-law of John Teevins of Grand Bend, Robert and Elizabeth Merner, Larry and Louise Merner all of Zurich and Joanne Merner of London. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Milfred and Laura (Datars) Schilbe, step-mother Vera (Dedels) Schilbe, great-grandson Avery Narula, brother Ray Schilbe and his wife Audrey, sisters Doreen Tieman and her husband Russell, Sheila Teevins, brothers-in-law Bill Merner, Arnold Jr. Merner and his wife Elaine and sister-in-law Donna Merner. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Nadine Schroeder-Kranz Officiating. Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Zurich. Hubert was a 30 + year Fireman on the Zurich Fire Department, a long time member of the Zurich Lions Club and the Zurich Minor Athletics Association. He was an active member and tolled the church bells at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich for many years. Hubert and Marge spent many winters in Pelican Harbour Estates, Punta Gorda, Florida, where they made many lifelong friends. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the Alzheimer Society, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the M.S. Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
