Obituary of JACK WILLIAM SPANTON

The Spanton family sadly announces the peaceful death of their loving father Jack William Spanton on Aug 16, 2016. Predeceased by his wife June Yvonne (Gabourie). Cherished father of Clayton and Heather (Cassels), Lise and James Breckenridge, Gabrielle and Tim (Revely), dear grandfather of Jason, Kendra (Cassels), Andrew, Kristin (Chris Van), J.R. Breckenridge and Eric Oulster. Adored by his two surviving sisters Bernice Baker and Joyce Purdy and their families. Predeceased by his sisters Lillian Quiin and Muriel Callaghan as well as his brother William. Dear brother in law to Jim Gabourie, predeceased by Donald. Devoted cousin to the Taylor family. Lifelong friend to the Farkas, Locke, Carlsen, Bundy, Pye, Kelner, Ellard and Bambridge families. Jack, or Happy as he was known by close friends and family, was an accomplished business man. Highlights include; Regional and International General Contractor, Commercial & Residential Construction, Plumbing & Heating, Master Plumber and one of three individuals who wrote the plumbing code for Canada (except Province of Quebec). His Toronto plumbing license was PH3. Jack was instrumental in planning and underwriting the cost for over 20,000 low income Ontario children to attend Expo 67. He sponsored numerous little league hockey teams as well as, gave generously to the arts and charities. Jack enjoyed life to the fullest, he loved to laugh, share stories and especially enjoyed sailing. His greatest pleasure was time with family and friends. Anyone who knew Jack knows they will miss a wonderful and unique gentleman, his quiet yet powerful presence was always a source of comfort and strength. Jack benevolently and lovingly cared for and about many people in many ways. He was extremely generous in creating opportunities to help those in need. A celebration of life for this extraordinary and deeply loved father and friend will take place on Aug 24th from 3-7pm in the home of Clayton and Heather at 8 Cotswold Cres., Toronto, M2P 1M9.
