Obituary of JONATHAN IAN O'CONNOR
O’CONNOR: Jonathan Ian O’Connor passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10th 2017, at home, surrounded by family, after a long fight with cancer. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Jon, known for his sporting achievements, excelled in both hockey and soccer, went to South Huron District High School and then Lafayette College, Pennsylvania. After receiving an MA in International Studies from University of Kent, in Canterbury, UK, Jon moved to Singapore and traded oil for several banks. His trading career culminated as Head Trader for Merrill Lynch in London, England. In 2012, Jon and family returned to Canada, where he founded a hops import and export company in British Colombia, with an Ontario office in Centralia. His passion for sports never waned. Husband and best friend of Elaine (Shields) O’Connor, recently of Edmonton. Loved and devoted father of Oscar, Caroline and Constance O’Connor. Forever loved son of Dr. Liam O’Connor and his wife Wendy of Grand Bend and dear brothers David O’Connor (Silvia) and Dane Richardson (Emily). Fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families. Also mourned by the Allen and Shields families. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Son Funeral Home, Dashwood with visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., with Family and Parish prayers being offered at 8:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Len Desjardins Celebrant. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to: Health Partners International or Grand Bend Community Health Centre or charity of choice.
