Obituary of Dr. Derek T. Copp

COPP:  Dr. Derek T. Copp of Grand Bend, age 50, formerly of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 18, 2017, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Meaghan O’Rourke Copp.  Cherished father of Duncan, Katrijn and Sebona. Forever loved son of the late Garth Copp (1994) and Joan Milton of Nova Scotia. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Darren Copp and Teri Huggins of Kelowna, British Columbia, Suzelle and Tim Moore of Burlington, Kieran and Tara O’Rourke of Oshawa, Eamon and Melissa O’Rourke of Petawawa and Mairead O’Rourke of Grand Bend. Loved son-in-law of Terry and Jean O’Rourke of Grand Bend. Derek will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his passion for family, Derek was an educator. Derek’s impact in education reached students in Japan, Europe and Canada, culminating in his doctorate in Governance and Policy Analysis from Maastricht University in The Netherlands. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood with visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m., where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the work of Dr. Mark Vincent, Dr. R. Malthaner and Dr. B. Yaremko, and their respective teams in Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Thoracic at London Health Sciences Centre.
