Obituary of NANCY RUTH FREELE
FREELE: Peacefully at home, Residence on the Thames, Chatham, Friday, June 19, 2015 Nancy Ruth (Gordon) Freele, formerly of Grand Bend, age 88. Beloved wife of the late H.E. Morgan Freele (2012). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Bill and Deborah Freele of London, Deborah Freele of Toronto, Morgan and Thania Freele of Grand Bend, Karen Freele of Chatham, Maureen Freele-Kieley of Burlington and Ruth and Luc Burnham of Peterborough. Remembered by sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, three great-grandchildren who are all loved as part of Nancy’s family, as well as sister Joyce (Clark) Davey of Ottawa, nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by parents Rowley Archibald and Ruth Audrey (Lowrey) Gordon. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John’s-By-The-Lake Anglican Church, Grand Bend, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Grayhame Bowcott officiating. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to St. John’s-By-The-Lake Anglican Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Nancy and Morgan enjoyed gardening, their love of the outdoors and playing bridge at the Port Franks Duplicate Bridge Club, they attended at St. John’s Church and enjoying music and theatre in Blyth, Stratford and Grand Bend which added to the quality of life spent in Grand Bend. Nancy was born in Chatham in 1927, she attended Chatham Collegiate Institute before going to U.W.O in the fall of 1946 to enroll in the Music Program at the McIntosh Gallery. She met her future husband H.E. Morgan Freele during this time. They were married in 1949. Early retirement brought them to Grand Bend, where Nancy was involved with the Grand Bend Concert Association, Home-Owner’s Association, the Playhouse Guild, Horticultural Society and a director at Sauble Court apartments.
