Obituary of Sylvia Karen Gozzard

GOZZARD:  Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Friday, November 8, 2019, Sylvia Karen (Zavitz) Gozzard of Grand Bend, age 77.  Beloved wife of Haydn Gozzard.  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Christine “Chris” and Brian Thompson of Grand Bend.  Cherished grandma of Breanna Thompson and Tory Thompson both of Grand Bend.  Dear sister-in-law of Susan and Gary Wilson of St. Marys, Terry Gozzard of England and Janet Gozzard of Bayfield.  Sylvia will be remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families and will be missed by her canine companion Georgie.  Predeceased by her parents George and Elsie Maude (Checkman) Burnett, brother Dennis Zavitz, sister-in-law Beryl Gozzard and brother-in-law H. Ted Gozzard.  At Syvlia’s request, cremation will take place.  A Celebration of her life will be held at the Grand Bend Yacht Club in the Spring of 2020 details to be announced.  Sylvia was the former Commodore of the Grand Bend Yacht Club and was a long time member. She was also an avid gardener and loved to read. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations to the Grand Bend Community Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
