Obituary of Arnold Martinus VandenBoomen

VandenBoomen: After 90 years, Arnold “Noud” Martinus Vanden Boomen, of Stratford, formerly of the Netherlands, Grand Bend and Zurich,  passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021.  Arnold’s greatest joy was his loving family.  Devoted husband for 63 years of Jacoba “Coby” Antonia (Vlemmix) VandenBoomen. The Greatest Dad to Trudy (Andy) Groenestege, Tony (Sally) VandenBoomen, Mary (Jeff) Merkel, Maureen (Dale) Regier.  Most Fun Opa of Stephanie, Deanna, the late Nicholas and Alexa Groenestege,  Matthew and Krisan VandenBoomen, Jacob (Mandy), Owen, Bryan (Nicki) Merkel, Katelyn and William Regier.  Adored Great-Opa of Isabella, Lyra and Maximilian Merkel.  Dear brother and brother-in-law of Nel Sanders, Riek VandenBoomen, Josephine Rykers, Trees Van de Vleuten, Ria VandenBoomen all in the Netherlands, Toni and Bill Vanden Berk,  Jean and Luke Mommersteeg all in Canada.  Remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families in Canada and the Netherlands.  Predeceased by his parents Antoon and Gertruda (Sanders) VandenBoomen, siblings and in-laws Josephus VandenBoomen, Kees Sanders, Jan and Nel VandenBoomen, Antonia VandenBoomen, Maria and Piet Van de Ven, Martien Rykers, Jan Van de Vleuten, Wim VandenBoomen, John and Lisa Vlemmix, Martin and Jean Vlemmix, Mary and Peter Mennen, Anna and Pete Kurstjens, Tom and Grada Vlemmix.  A Private Family Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend. The Rev. Fr. Tony Laforet Celebrant.  Interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.  The family would like to express a special thank you to the Chartwell, Anne Hathaway Residence, Stratford and to Dr. Walji and the staff of the 3rd and 1st floors of Stratford General Hospital, Stratford for their great care.  If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to Crohns and Colitis Canada or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
