Obituary of John Wassing

WASSING: Peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Monday, August 9, 2010, John Wassing of Grand Cove Estates, Grand Bend, formerly of Kitchener, age 84. Beloved husband of Jannie “Jenny” Ariana (Heuvelman) Wassing. Loved father and father-in-law of John and Sandy Wassing, Joanne and Karl Euler, all of Kitchener, Margaret Wassing of Fergus, Arnold and Rita Wassing of Furby’s Cove, NFLD. Loving grandpa of nine and great-grandpa of fourteen. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mans and Anna Wassing of Holland, Arnold and Henny Wassing of BC, Henny Hoekstra of Port Burwell, Jean Steckle of Oakville, Steve and Elaine Wassing of Springfield, Rick and Honor Wassing of Port Burwell, Patricia and Roy Simmons of Palmerston, Harko and Geppie Wassing of Beachburg, Egbert Weerd of Holland and Cora Wassing of Grand Bend. Remembered by many nieces, nephews, their families and the Heuvelman families. Predeceased by his brother Dirk Wassing, sister Tryn Weerd, sister and brothers-in-law Marcia and Rudy Vanderveen, Sol Steckle, Sip Crans and Ted Hoekstra. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Wednesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 330 Huron St. W., Exeter, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Harry Frielink officiating. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau. If desired, memorial donations to the Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated. John was a 25 year employee of the University of Waterloo in the Chemical Engineering Department and was a C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist).
