Obituary of Gerald Austin Schenk

SCHENK: Peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Tuesday, October 26, 2010, Gerald “Jerry” Austin Schenk of Crediton, age 90. Beloved husband of the late Elodia “Rita” Marie (Cholette) Schenk (1995). Loved father and father-in-law of Susan and Joe Regier, Tammy and Steve Bibby, Lorie and Bob Van Valkengoed, all of Crediton, Bonnie Schenk of Zurich and John Bierling of Exeter. Loved companion and special friend of Rena Wood of Lucan. Predeceased by his son Donald Schenk (1979), daughter Charmaine Bierling (2010), grandson Ryan Van Valkengoed (2008) and great-grandson Tanner Regier (2004). Loving grandfather of Wendy, Derek, Jerry, Kathy, Kelly, Kris, Karen, Matthew, Jo-Dee, Kristine, Michael, Jamie, Julie, Shawn, Jacob, Jared and their families. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Gladys Bierling of Hensall, Pete and Geraldine Schenk of Paisley, and the Cholette family of Cornwall. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by sister Helen Schenk, parents Nelson and Katherine (Pfaff) Schenk. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where the Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark Graves officiating. Private interment Crediton Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to Crediton Cemetery would be appreciated. Gerald was a long-time member of the Crediton Cemetery Board. His favourite pastime was touring the roads, a good game of euchre and an “occasional” horse race.
