Obituary of Rowland Warburton Leigh
LEIGH: Peacefully, at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, Wednesday, August 29, 2012, Rowland “Bob” Warburton Leigh, age 80, formerly of Grand Cove Estates, Grand Bend, Haileybury and Timmins. Beloved husband of Sheila (Sorrell) Leigh. Loved father of Tania and Kevin Schmidt of Cambridge and Rowland Leigh of Wiarton. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Ivan and Diane Leigh, Keith and Maureen Leigh, Adrian and Jacqueline Leigh all of Bolton, England, George and Sheena Sorrell of Norfolk County, England. Remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Saturday, September 1, 2012 commencing at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Tracey Whitson-Bahro officiating. Rowland “Bob” was well known as an accomplished Mining Engineer and Geologist working in Africa, England, Canada and U.S.A. In Toronto he was with Rio Algam, in Northern B.C. with Cassiar Mine, in the Yukon with Clinton Creek Mine, in Calgary and Pittsburgh with Costain Mining, in Vancouver with Wright Engineers, in Timmins with Royal Oak, Pamour Mine and in N.W.T. with Colomac Mine before retiring reluctantly in 1996 to Haileybury, then Grand Bend, Ontario.
