Obituary of Alvin John Best
BEST: Peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Friday, May 17, 2013, Alvin John Best of Grand Bend, formerly of Toronto, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Arlene (Maver) Best and the late Lillian Ruth (Pyke) Best (2001). Loved father and father-in-law of David and Janice Best of Grand Bend, Rob and Leili Maver of London. Loving grandfather of Laura (Tatsuya), Marina (Chris), Kaili, Kylli and Mason. Remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his brother Howard Best. At Alvin’s request, cremation will take place. A private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Alvin was born in Toronto, owned and operated many businesses including Best Restaurant, Car Wash, Laundromat and Best Ice Company. He was a WWII veteran and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. One of his greatest pleasures was spending the winters on his boat in Key Largo, Florida. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the Salvation Army, South Huron Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
