Obituary of James Patrick Houlahan

HOULAHAN: Peacefully at his residence on Friday, June 20, 2014, James Patrick Houlahan, of Shipka, RR 2, Dashwood, age 79. Born March 7, 1935, to the late Joseph and the late Kathleen (McKeever) Houlahan. Jim is survived and sadly missed by his brothers: Jack (Ruth), Ed (Marie) all of Sarnia, Eugene (Doreen) of Calgary, sisters: Reta Mitro of Toronto, Madeline Wells of Hensall, Ann Mercer of London, sisters-in-law: Shirley of Winnipeg and Linda of Vancouver. Jim was predeceased by his sister Mary (Earl) Erickson, brothers Lawrence (Lillian), Gerald and Joe, brothers-in-law Steve Mitro and Donald Wells. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families, special nieces and nephew, Ann (Jack) Darling and family of Cambridge, Jackie & Justin of Windsor, Susan Erickson of Sarnia and the late Mike Erickson (Bonnie) and family of Michigan. Jim was a lifelong resident of Shipka and farmed all his life. He was well known in the farming community. Jim loved going to the Horse Races and was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. with family and parish prayers being offered at 8:30 p.m. Following will be a service by the Knights of Columbus Fr. Fogarty Council 8480 Mount Carmel. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Mount Carmel on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Len Desjardins Celebrating. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish, may send memorial donations (payable by cheque) to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
