Obituary of Mathilda Van Leeuwen
VAN LEEUWEN: With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Mom into God's loving arms at Extendicare London, Thursday morning, May 29, 2008, Mathilda "Tillie"(Kester) Van Leeuwen, of RR 2, Grand Bend, age 76. Beloved wife of the late Gerardus "Jerry" Van Leeuwen (2006). Loving mother of Nick Van Leeuwen and his wife Karen of Cary, North Carolina, Mathilde Van Leeuwen of Calgary, Ellen Robinson and her husband Wes of London, Adrian Van Leeuwen and his wife Viktoria of Toronto, John Van Leeuwen and his wife Charlene of Hunter River, P.E.I. Loving Oma of Andrew, Brian, David, Jacqueline, Wes, Greg, Bryanna, Jason, Katie, Pieter and Julie. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, brothers, in-laws, nieces and nephews and the Van Leeuwen families in Canada, Holland, Australia and the Philippines. Tillie immigrated from Holland in 1955 to the Grand Bend area and with Jerry made a living in market gardening and their flower nursery. She was a long time member of the CWL, and more recently active with the Grand Bend Golden Age Club. She enjoyed spending time and conversation with her many friends, and also enjoyed a fun game of cards too. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Friday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Parish and family prayers at the funeral home, Friday at 1:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Father Peter Poel Celebrant. Interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace or a Developing Country of your choice would be appreciated. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the loving and supportive staff at Extendicare London during Mom=s final months.
