Obituary of RICHARD IVAN BENDER

BENDER: Peacefully, with his family by his side, at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital, on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, Richard “Dick” Ivan Bender of RR 2, Grand Bend, formerly of Breslau, in his 76th year. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathryn Erlene (Jutzi) Bender. Loving father and father-in-law of Robert and Malia Bender of Ottawa, Christine and Robert Booker of Fergus, Richard “Jamie” and Sharon Bender of Baden. Cherished grandfather of Bryce Fuhrman of Guelph. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Robert and Audrey Bender, Tom and Ruthanne Bender, Dianne and Dan Stern. Dick will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Ivan and Magdalena (Kropf) Bender. At Dick’s request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. Dick was born and raised in Baden, ON and lived for many years in Breslau with his wife and children. He retired from N.C.R. after 38 years of service. Dick was a long time member of Steinmann Mennonite Church. He was a true “MacGyver” in all trades and enjoyed many outdoor activities. Dick was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 498 – Grand Bend.
