Obituary of Richard M. Jackson

RICHARD M. JACKSON July 19, 1949 - April 15, 2007 Rick Jackson of Oakwood Park, Grand Bend, passed away peacefully at the age of 57 with his family by his side at the London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital, Sunday, April 15, 2007, after a valiant battle with cancer. Loving and beloved husband of Janet Baird-Jackson, fiercely proud father of Mandy and son-in-law Colin Halward, and special grandpa to Jaxson Halward of Milton. Survived and sadly missed by his mother Audrey (Goodwin) Jackson, brother Brian, nieces Lindsay and Ashley, mother-in-law Peggy Baird, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Predeceased by his father Murray Jackson and father-in-law Robert Baird. Rick will be fondly remembered by many, many friends and colleagues in the insolvency industry, his boating group, and in the Grand Bend and Oakwood communities. His extensive interests included boating, woodworking, construction, Land Cruiser restoration and the collection and enjoyment of single malt whiskies. Rick was a past commodore of the Grand Bend Cruising Club, a past President of the Oakwood Park Association and a charter member and Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Grand Bend at its inception in 1991. In accordance with Rick’s wishes, there will be no funeral home visitation. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his Life will take place at the Oakwood Inn Resort, Terrace Room, Grand Bend, Sunday April 22, 2007 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., commencing with a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sheila Macgregor officiating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, London Health Sciences Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated and directed through the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, (519-237-3532) who are entrusted with arrangements.
