FREITER: Peacefully, surrounded by love, at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, Wednesday, June 16, 2004, Katharina “Kaethe” (Janzen) Freiter, in her 80th year, of Dashwood, formerly of Leamington, born in the Ukraine and coming to Canada in 1950. Beloved wife of Erich Otto Freiter Sr. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Kurt and friend Ursula of Florida, Reiny and Lynda of Exeter, Erika and Robert Sterzik of Calgary, Erich Jr. and Cheryl of Dashwood. Loving grandma and “Oma” of Sonia Freiter and Iwan Smolders, Heidi Freiter, Ryan and wife Aimee Freiter, Andrew Freiter, Nathaniel and Melanie Sterzik, Byron and Katelyn Freiter. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Helena Stadler of Leamington, twin brother Peter and wife Margareta Janzen of Winnipeg, Elisabeth Janzen of Germany, Susanna Janzen of Leamington, Annie Zielman of Dashwood, Willie and Ellen Janzen of Leamington, Paula Luettel of Germany, Heinz and Hildegard Freiter of Lindsay and Herta Freiter of Germany. Cherished by her many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her brother Heinrich Janzen, brothers-in-law Eduard Stadler, Dirk Zielman, August Luettel and Kurt Freiter. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Zurich Mennonite Church, Monday, June 21, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Phil Wagler officiating assisted by the Rev. Henry Dueck. Interment Zurich Mennonite Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Cancer Society, Blue Water Rest Home, or in lieu of a charitable donation, show an act of service, kindness, or a reassuring word today to a stranger or a friend, as Kaethe would have done. Kaethe was well known throughout the community by all her acts of kindness and work not only through the service groups but also on a personal note with the Dashwood Women’s Institute, Dashwood Optimist Club, Dashwood Golden Agers, Grand Bend Buccaneers, Ladies Coffee Club at Kaethe’s Kaffee Haus and the many successful Dashwood Friedsburg Days. Kaethe was also a strong supporter of the Bluewater Tug-of-War Club.
