Obituary of Afanazy Podgorski

PODGORSKI: Peacefully, at Chateau Gardens Nursing Home, Parkhill, Tuesday, October 12, 2004, Afanazy “Alex” Podgorski, 91, formerly of RR 2, Grand Bend. Beloved husband of Julianna “Julia” (Kormendy) Podgorski. Loved father of Carol Ann and Les Kwarciak of Dorchester, Cathy Podgorski and Richard Grenier of London. Loving grandpa of David and Nicholas Kwarciak, Larysa and Matthew Grenier. Dear brother-in-law of Cyril and Mary Kormendy of Blenheim, Irene and Bill Parker of Erieau. Remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by infant son Mark, brother Basil Podgorski and sister Alexandra Dieduch. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Family and Parish Prayers at the Funeral Home, Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend, Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Francis Thekkumkattil Celebrant. Interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. Alex served with the Polish Army under the command of the British 8th Army in Italy during WWII and immigrated to Canada (Erieau) in 1946.
