Obituary of William Victor Dinnin

DINNIN: Peacefully, at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich, Thursday, August 30, 2007, William Victor “Vic” Dinnin of Goderich, formerly of Zurich, in his 96th year. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lylyan (Rader) Dinnin (1982).Vic will be missed as a loving, cherished father and grandfather by Bill and Cheryl Dinnin of Grand Bend and grandchildren Aimee Dinnin and her partner Andrew Huff and Will and Sheila Dinnin of London. He is survived by his sisters Audrey Munn, Laura Barr and Wilma Jackman, sisters-in-law Lois Dinnin and Joy Dinnin Shore and brother-in-law Bob Barr. He was predeceased by his brothers Albert, Art and Harry Dinnin, brothers-in-law Ted Munn and Ernie Jackman. He will be missed by his special friend Edna Stephens and by many nieces and nephews. Vic was born January 10, 1912 near Cromarty, Huron County. He was the last surviving charter member of the Zurich Lions Club, a Past District Governor and Council Chair of Lions. He taught school in Stanley Township on the Parr Line, Zurich Public School, as principal, and South Huron High School for a total of 33 years. He and Lyl operated the Garden Lunch and Sea-Vue Cottages in Grand Bend for a number of summers through the 1940s and 50s. He had a lifelong interest in flying, especially in his Stinson, and spending time at his cottage (Idyl Isle) on Georgian Bay over the past 50 years. A Memorial Service to celebrate Vic’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich, Ontario, Sunday September 9, 2007 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Ann Krueger officiating. Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich or Zurich Lions Club will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. T.
