Obituary of Karen Eileen Schram

SCHRAM:  Peacefully, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family, after a valiant 4.5 year battle with pancreatic cancer, Karen Eileen (Buchanan) Schram, of Grand Bend, age 50 (17 Days before their 51st birthday).  Cherished wife of Dean Edward Schram.  Cameron, her one and only son, was Karen’s life’s work.  She will be missed by her feline companion Abby.  Forever loved daughter of Mary K. (Carruthers) Buchanan and the late Duncan Buchanan (1976).  Womb mate and cherished identical twin of Kathy Kaufman and her husband Don of Woodstock.  Loved and will be missed by her mother and father- in-law, Marg and Dale Schram of Parkhill, brother-in-law Mark and his wife Jen Schram of Ilderton.  Remembered by her nieces and nephews Kennedy, Karter and Jackson Kaufman, Jaime and Nathan Schram.  Predeceased by her brother JD Buchanan (1976) and sister Brenda Buchanan (1976).  At Karen’s request, cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  The Memorial Service will be held at Huron Shores United Church, Grand Bend on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.  The Rev. Kate Crawford Officiating.  Interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend at a later date.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Danica Wilson, Dr. Kim and Dr. Hammond for their exceptional compassion and care shown to Karen.  Karen loved plaid, her favourite being Stewart, as a tribute for the visitation and memorial service, the family would ask that you don your best plaid in her memory.    She was a teacher with the Lambton Kent District School Board for 25 years and spent 18 of those years with the Grand Bend Public School. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to Jessica’s House would be appreciated by the family.
