June Dunn

Obituary of June Gwendoline Dunn

DUNN:  Unexpectedly, but peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Saturday, July 31, 2021, June G. (Pickering) Dunn, of Grand Bend age 92.  Beloved wife of the late Victor A. Dunn (2010).  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Susan and Paul Horton of Grand Bend.  Remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.  Survived by her sister Margaret Pickering of Toronto.  June was a free spirit who loved and enjoyed life to its fullest.  When she was just 21 years old she set out to leave her home in Calcutta, India where she was born and raised.  She spent 3 months on a ship travelling from Calcutta to Boston and then got on an airplane to fly to Montreal where she married Victor on April 21, 1951.  She loved to travel (the Caribbean was her favourite), spend time with her family and friends, listen to music and dance.  Some of her greatest joys were cooking in her younger years, keeping up with the TV Gossip, American Politics, the Hollywood Elites and current events, she enjoyed a good glass of wine with family or friends and her fashion sense was impeccable.  Predeceased by her parents William Philip and Dorothy Anne (Austin) Pickering, siblings and their spouses; Leonard and Shelagh Pickering, Irene and Roy Golding, Patrick and Norma Pickering, Viola and William Beeley, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry Christopher and Susan Jane (Hawking) Dunn and the Dunn siblings and their spouses; Violet and George Passmore, Daisy and John Cantewell, Dorothy and John Campbell, Thomas and Viola, Vera and Bob Welter, May and Lorne Robertson.  At June’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of June’s Life will be held at Susan’s home (90 Gill Road, Grand Bend) on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with words of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.  If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to the South Huron Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
