Beloved husband of 48 years to Catharina “Cathy” Johanna (VanAlphen) Smith. Loved father and father-in-law of Mandy and Chris Emery of Woodstock. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Susan and John Summers of Strathroy, Cheryle Gardiner of Owen Sound, Rebekah and Richard Regier of London, John and Mary VanAlphen of Thamesford, Martin and Lynda VanAlphen of British Columbia, Johanna and Ron Granville of Thorndale. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Kirk will be missed by his canine sidekick Bella. Predeceased by his parents George Patrick (2015) and Muriel Fern (Richardson) Smith (2016) and brother-in-law Bev Gardiner (2002). At Kirk’s request, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. Private interment Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. Kirk worked in roofing for over 50 years, with Smith Peat Roofing and with his dad for Bluewater Roofing. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.
