Obituary of Jillian Mary James

JAMES:  Unexpectedly, but peacefully at Mcgarrell Place Long Term Care Home, London, on Sunday, May 26, 2024, Jillian “Jill” Mary (Batten) James formerly of Exeter, Zurich, Grand Bend, London and Aylmer, age 79.  Beloved wife of the late Dean Archie James (2021).  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Karen and Len Hall of Hamilton, Joanna Chardola and Linda Ng of Blue Mountains, Chris and Christine Roe of Somerset, England and step-mother of Dereck and Carrie James of Kingsville and Brent James of Saskatoon, SK.  Cherished grandma of Samantha Hall, Hanna Hall, Nathan James, Olivia James, Daisy Roe and Olly Roe.  Dear sister of Sally Moore of Worthing, England, and sister-in-law of Cheryl James and Jim Edmonds of Grand Bend and Roger James of Aylmer.  Loved daughter-in-law of Audrey (Buck) James of St. Thomas.  Remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Harold Allen and Winifred Kathleen (Emery) Batten, father-in-law Stanley Robert James.  At Jill’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her Life will be held the Trinity Anglican Church, 170 John Street North, Aylmer on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Jim Innes Officiant.  Interment Luton Cemetery, Aylmer.  Jillian, fondly known as Jilly, enjoyed varied experiences to live her life with love, energy, class and sass! Life experiences included living in three countries, three separate careers and her most cherished relationships as a daughter, wife, mom, step-mom, sister, auntie, grandmother, friend.  During the past few years, the ‘intruder’ presented a different version of Jilly. Despite not being able to communicate, she still lit up a room with her smile and sweet disposition. Those fortunate to know Jillian, past and present, remember her reverently.  A special thank you to all the staff on Windermere Way at McGarrell Place for the care given to Jillian especially during her last week.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.  If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
