Obituary of Doris K Penhale

PENHALE:  Peacefully, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, Doris K. (Willert) Penhale of Dashwood, in her 101st year.  Beloved wife of the late Clifford “Cliff” Harold Penhale (2020).  Loved mother of Nancy and Allan Regier of Zurich.  Loving Grandma of Gary and Susan Smith of Aylmer, Susanne and Greg McCarthy of Dashwood. Cherished Great-Grandma of Samantha and Andrew Naylor, James Smith (Jennie), Sarah Smith, Ashley McCarthy (Ellay), Alexis and Jakob Cipolla, Nicole McCarthy and Vanessa McCarthy.  She was affectionately known as GG to her great-great-grandpuppy Harlowe.  Remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Reinhard and Amelia (Engeland) Willert, son-in-law James “Jim” Smith, and siblings and in-laws Milton and Gladys Willert, Alvin and Edith Willert, Ada and Bob Newton.  Doris was a switch board operator in the Telephone Exchange in Dashwood for many years.  She was a long time member of the former Calvary United Church, Dashwood.  The Funeral Service will be held at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 12 p.m., with 1 hour of visitation commencing at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Mark Isaac Officiant.  Interment Calvary United Church Goshen Line Cemetery, Dashwood.  “We had a wonderful grandma, One who never really grew old, Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold.” Doris’ family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at South Huron Hospital, especially Rachel, Julia, Theresa and all of the nursing team for their compassionate care, comfort and support. Thank you to the wonderful Saint Elizabeth Health Care nurses and to all of the Community Paramedics who cared for Grandma while she was still in her home.  Thank you to Dr. Lam for her excellent care over many years. If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to the South Huron Hospital Foundation or Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be appreciated by the family.
