Obituary of Maureen Florence Garinther

GARINTHER:  Peacefully, at Palmerston and District Hospital, Palmerston on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Maureen Florence (Heaney) Garinther of Grand Cove Estates, Grand Bend, formerly of London and Montreal, age 80.  Beloved wife of the late Ronald “Ron” Charles George Garinther (2017).  Loved mother and mother-in-law of Wendy and Dr. Steve Decker of Orleans, Glenn Garinther of London, Kimberley and Keith Detweiler of Drayton, Kathleen and Stuart Cheesmond of Kitchener.  Cherished Mayme of Hannah, Chloe, Sydney, Halle, Calvin, Aidan, Carter and Quinn.  Fondly remembered by her dear friend John Adams, also remembered by her niece Laura, nephews Stephen and Michael and their families.  Predeceased by her parents Lawrence Edward and Irene Christie (Cameron) Heaney and brother Robert Edward Heaney. Maureen enjoyed a career as a gifted Elementary School Teacher, and touched the lives of many children. She also valued her time at home raising her four children. As well, she was a proud Member of the Catholic Women's League for 33 years, with 2 separate terms as CWL President.  Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. with Parish and CWL Prayers being offered at 3:45 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Fr. Tony Laforet Celebrant.  Cremation with Interment Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery, Montreal at a later date.  If desired memorial donations (payable by cheque) to “Blessings” Foodbank, Zurich, the ALS Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
